Case Studies
United Nations Foundation
The UN Foundation lacked a clear message about its purpose and was known mainly through the campaigns and initiatives housed within. We created a narrative architecture that laid out UNF’s unique ‘why’ and value-add to the UN and how all its campaigns and initiatives connect to that. The new architecture formed the core of a new website and public presence.
COVID-19 Fund
As COVID-19 spread, the UN urgently needed funds to help lower income countries respond. In four days, we created and launched the Solidarity Response Fund campaign – a unique way for anyone anywhere to support the UN’s global pandemic response.
The campaign raised over $200m in six weeks including from more than 100 global companies, dozens of celebrities, and partnerships with Global Citizen, Tiltify, and Nasdaq among others. It funded half of all protective medical supplies sent to lower income countries from the UN’s health agency. The campaign won eight awards for creativity, adaptability and results.
Feeding America
Different teams at Feeding America described its work in inconsistent ways and were unsure how to describe its initiatives on equity and climate. We built an org-wide narrative framework and an in-house Messaging Center and team to craft, share and update approved key messages and key calendar moments. We then rolled this out to the Feeding America food bank network.
Internal and food bank feedback was overwhelmingly positive with key messages used by teams for different purposes and audiences.
Growing A Better Future
For Feeding America’s 2024 annual conference we created and hosted a live 2-hour storytelling show in front of an 800-person audience including individual storytellers, panel discussions, audience interaction and video content.
For the show, we conceived and produced Growing A Better Future, a short film about a Feeding America-supported project to advance health, nutrition and equity at Tougaloo College in Mississippi – a storied civil rights location.
We also created Heart of Turtle Mountain, an animated film about a Native American activist now working to reduce hunger and increase opportunity in his North Dakota homeland. It was animated by a Native artist from the same community.
Summit of the Future
The UN asked us to help shape and host its major 2024 Summit of the Future Action Day, a six-hour live event at UN HQ in New York with world leaders, ministers, UN officials, activists, celebrities and advocates designed to lay out concrete policy pathways to unlock progress on critical issues from climate to sovereign debt to Security Council gridlock. We helped articulate clear goals, create a unifying narrative across the day, script and design each panel discussion, embed audience interaction and host the whole event. Watch the livestream here.
